"Israeli" Cyber Attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon: Escalation Towards World War 3?
Jerusalem Post:
”Dozens of members of Hezbollah were seriously wounded on Tuesday in Lebanon's south and the southern suburbs of Beirut when the pagers they use to communicate exploded, security sources told Reuters.
According to reports, the pagers were called before the explosion for some period of seconds to increase the chance that whoever received the call would pick it up and be maximally wounded. Shortly before the explosions, there were reports of a special meeting between Mossad Director David Barnea and Netanyahu.
The news comes only hours after the Shin Bet revealed that Hezbollah recently attempted to assassinate a top former Israeli defense official in Tel Aviv.”
This is only the second time since October 7 that "Israel" has attacked Hezbollah inside Beirut, which is many miles from the border with occupied Palestine. The first attack was the killing of Hamas commander Fuad Shukr on July 30 by precision airstrikes.
political notes:
This attack was obviously terrorism because it threatened the lives not only of the operatives in question but also of civilians in the immediate vicinity of the attacks. Videos are circulating online of pagers exploding in militants' pockets in grocery stores, surrounded by shoppers. These attacks will clearly shake Lebanese civil society to its core and produce new levels of social distrust and degradation. The ultimate aim of terrorism is to dismantle civil society by instilling fear about going out in public or engaging in everyday activities.
These attacks likely achieved their intended purpose by undermining Hezbollah’s image of invincibility and organizational cohesion. These attacks are humiliating for the group, making them look like Wile E. Coyote. It remains to be seen if this attack was merely a display of power by the Zionist war council or if it has presaged a larger attack against Hezbollah. If it is the latter, then we should expect more covert operations in the coming days, followed by an invasion of southern Lebanon.
3. Either way, it is incumbent upon the international solidarity movement to call out this blatant aggression and begin to develop plans to disrupt and prevent our governments from supporting “Israeli” aggression against Lebanon:
a. We need to patiently explain to the widest possible circles why aggression against Lebanon is a continuation of aggression against Palestine, ensuring that all pro-Palestine advocates are also opposed to the war in Lebanon and that no time is lost in expanding our focus to include a new theater of the liberation war in and around Palestine.
b. We need to begin counter-recruitment and agitation among the armed forces of our countries; especially the United States. Aaron Bushnell was failed by the movement outside of the military; we need soldiers with consciences to have better outlets than heroic self-immolation! Read up on the Coffee House movement for inspiration!
c. Organize workplace and community cells capable of disrupting the war economy through strikes and road blockades.
